The Blue Heart Project

What is the problem

We are poisoning our Oceans, our #BlueHeart

We have only one earth, the one of a kind blue marble in space. What makes our planet special is our one interconnected ocean: the blue heart of our planet. There would be no life on earth without it. Every breath we take, every drop of water we drink, every joy we experience is a gift of this life-giving ocean.

We have not been a good friend to our blue heart. From filling the ocean with plastics, to dumping toxic chemicals from industries, to oil spills from drilling and transportation, to overfishing leading to extinction of many species, to sound pollution impacting marine life, we have jeopardized the heath of our blue heart. Oceans are essential for life on this planet

The impact from this falls most heavily on low-income countries and people on small island nations who rely on the oceans for food. Their survival depends on the health of the seas. We need to stop poisoning our blue heart. Humanity’s future depends on this.

Even if you never have the chance to see or touch the ocean, the ocean touches you with every breath you take, every drop of water you drink, every bite you consume. Everyone, everywhere is inextricably connected to and utterly dependent upon the existence of the sea.

What am I doing

Leading The #BlueHeart Project to raise awareness & inspire action around ocean conservation

I am leading The #BlueHeart Project as part of the DhunAnand nonprofit with the goal to raise awareness and inspire action for saving our oceans and marine life. To do this, I am bringing a number of artists, scientists, and activists together to tell stories at the intersection of music and environment. Through these stories I am trying to raise awareness and inspire action. We have a number of events planned in support of this.
